Louis Jennewein has passed away

Dear Classmates,

I learned this morning that Louis Jennewein has passed away. Apparently, he did not leave any instructions, and it's currently unknown as to whether or not he has a will or pre-arrangements for funeral, etc. No one seems to know anything about any of his family and/or friends except that there is an elderly aunt in a nursing home nearby in the Tampa area. Although Louis and I communicated on a fairly regular e-mail basis, the only other relative he ever mentioned was about a cousin (don't know the name) with whom he did not keep in contact, and I do know that Louis was an only child.

Because my friend Peggy and I were planning on cruising with Louis and a friend of his next month, Louis' travel agent Becky called me to tell me about his death. I knew that Louis was supposed to have hernia surgery on November 5th, but the last time I heard from him was on October 29th. Becky told me that Louis had been taken to the hospital by ambulance before the 5th due to being in so much pain (which he apparently thought was because of the hernia). However, tests that were performed at the hospital revealed that his body was "full of cancer;" (apparently, a recurrence of cancer surgery he had had several years ago). Becky said that an elderly neighbor is trying to help the authorities find out additional information about Louis. So if any of you know anything that you think might be helpful, please let me know and I'll pass along the info.

One of our Florida automobile license plates here in the sunshine state is a Hospice plate that reads: "Each Day Is A Gift." May God bless us all with receiving our "gifts" with humble joy each day.

Lock Bumping - Watch the video, then invest in a better lock

As if we needed one more thing to worry about, along comes a relatively simple technique known as lock bumping. It's a quick and easy way to open most general-purpose key locks, including door locks and padlocks. Take it for what it's worth.

50 Years - The Day The Music Died in 1959

February 3rd is "the day the music died," the day in 1959 when Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash in Clear Lake, Iowa, along with Ritchie Valens ("La Bamba") and J.P. Richardson (known as "The Big Bopper"). Buddy Holly's career as a rock star only lasted a year and a half, but he recorded "Peggy Sue," "Everyday," "That'll Be the Day," "Oh, Boy!" and many more hits. Buddy Holly was 22 years old when he died.
